Diane Charlton is an associate professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Economics at Montana State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Davis. Her research focuses primarily on rural labor markets and labor migration, agricultural production, and development. She co-authored a textbook on the economics of farm labor markets, titled The Farm Labor Problem: A Global Perspective. Recognition for her research includes sharing honorable mention from the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association for the Quality of Research Discovery Award in 2017 and invitation to speak to the U.S. Board on Agricultural and Natural Resources (BANR) National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine at their annual meeting on farm labor and technology adoption in 2022.
