The Italian Center for International Development (ICID) is an entity that involves Centers and Departments of four Italian public universities (CEIS of University of Rome Tor Vergata, Department of Economics of Roma Tre University, Department of Social Sciences and Economics of Sapienza University of Rome and Department of Economics and Management of the University of Florence). The Centre’s mission is to promote a better understanding of development challenges in an increasingly globalized world, through an inter-disciplinary approach. A big effort is directed to bridging the gap between research and policy design.
ICID has a particular interest in migration and has specialized in developing rigorous evaluations of migration policies. Moreover, it hosts the Master program on Migration and Development. Representatives of the three Rome State universities of ICID (Tor Vergata University of Rome, Sapienza University of Rome, and Roma Tre University) are co-creators of the Rome Dialogues
The Word Bank’s Rome Jobs and Labor Mobility Center (Rome JLM Center), part of the World Bank’s Jobs Group, develops, evaluates, and distributes evidence-based solutions to foster productive labor mobility, within and across sectors and borders. It focuses both on more good job creation locally, to reduce migratory pressures, and better labor pathways for those moving. Its work is organized around three pillars: jobs in the food system, jobs in towns and regions, and jobs across borders.
Under the last pillar, the Rome JLM Center also hosts an Innovation Challenge on Jobs and Migration to foster evidence generation on innovative, scalable solutions that maximize the economic and job benefits from safe, orderly, and regular migration.
