Veronica Michel Gutierrez is an Economist at the Jobs Group of the World Bank and currently leads the cross-border migration pillar of the Rome Jobs and Labor Mobility Center. At the Jobs Group, she conducts research and program design related to creation of better jobs, jobs and structural transformation, and skills development. Previously, Veronica acted as Advisor to the Minister of Finance in Mexico in the field of social policy, including health system reform, youth unemployment, and women’s inclusion in the labor market. Before that, she also worked in the social impact sector in organizations like Instiglio and Clínicas del Azúcar where she structured results-based financing contracts to improve the cost-effectiveness of social interventions. Veronica has also done research in public finance during her time at the Economic and Budgetary Research Center (CIEP) in Mexico. She holds an MSc in Economics from the University College London.
